Pioneering Transportation Electrification Solutions

Elevating Women in the EV Industry event at SDG&E

At S Curve Strategies, we are deeply committed to the mission of advancing zero-emission transportation. As a woman-owned business with five certifications, we are recognized leaders in guiding states, counties, and electric utilities across the U.S. towards a clean-air future. We grow the adoption of electric cars, trucks, and buses through our work with municipalities, fleets, and electric utilities. The result is diminished greenhouse gas emissions, which are frequently identified as a major source of environmental pollution and a cause of health issues in children who live near freeways.

S Curve Strategies’ Founder April Bolduc has taken a journey in the world of transportation electrification that is as inspiring as it is impactful. With a decade of experience at Sempra Energy and San Diego Gas & Electric, including five transformative years on the utility's EV team, she recognized an opportunity. The numerous phone calls for guidance from other utilities on how to replicate SDG&E's success were a clear signal – there was a demand for expertise that could be met on a larger scale.

In 2017, April took the leap and established her own consulting firm, S Curve Strategies. Her first certification was with the National Women Business Enterprise Certification for both a women-owned and small business certification.  This made her company eligible to meet project requirements across the U.S. that called for such certifications – something that has been invaluable to her growth.

April understands the power of collaboration. She has worked in 11 states and continues to focus on zero-emission transportation. April excels when working with stakeholders from across the U.S., forming connections, identifying key players needed to tackle the issues, and crafting regional strategies that result in increasing transportation electrification goals. Her approach is both strategic and hands-on. She closely collaborates with utilities in every region, bringing the insider know-how from her years at major energy companies to the table. April's expertise in zero-emission subject matter, large fleet electrification, and training utility employees to run electric vehicle programs positions S Curve Strategies as a leader in the field.

The business model is one of diversity and adaptability. Revenue streams flow from working with municipalities, fleets, and electric utilities, reflecting a dynamic and interconnected market.

The industry is growing and there’s room for everyone. So let’s get to work.

The projects are as varied as the clients. They include school district fleet electrification and state transit electrification planning, as well as projects like the New York Power Authority Transit Bus Electrification Master Plan, Clark County, Nevada Regional Transportation Electrification Strategy, and the West Coast Clean Transit Corridor Initiative that planned charging infrastructure for the trucking industry from the Canadian to Mexican border along the I-5.

In a recent candid discussion with a roomful of WBENC-certified businesses at Sempra Energy featuring SDG&E and the Port of San Diego, April shared insights into the financial workings of her business, highlighting an area often shrouded in mystery, especially among women entrepreneurs. With a transparent deep dive into her client and revenue sources, she sheds light on the economic landscape of transportation electrification consulting.

April's message is clear: knowledge is profitable, and expertise is invaluable. With half of her projects coming from municipalities and the other half from fellow consultants, S Curve Strategies embodies the essence of synergy in business.
